Position Summary

The Associate plays a critical role in the executive search process as well as the build up of MontaRosa as a global platform. In partnership with Consultants on each assignment, the Associate will help to identify, attract, develop and assess leaders, as well as better understand the landscape sectors (companies, sectors, products, geographies, etc.). Working with our database, proactive research resources, phone calls and in-person meetings, he/she will help to identify, reference and develop the most talented executives for consideration by our clients. The Associate helps to manage and advise clients through regular updates, providing them with market feedback and insight into the marketplace as well as candidates’ motivations, strengths and development needs.

Ideal candidates for the Associate role include those with strong business acumen, intellect, judgment and communication/advisory skills. Associates work on multiple client engagements, drawing on project management ability, proactive and quality search execution, an ownership mentality, and strong, team-oriented delivery to meet specific client needs. Associates are expected to develop deep and insightful candidate pool knowledge over the long-term.

Associates at MontaRosa will be expected to travel from time to time.

 The Associate will:

· Actively stay updated on the marketplace on a global scale, understanding trends (past, present and future) enabling MontaRosa to better perform for clients and talent.

· Perform name generation and passive candidate ID utilizing phone calling, Internet search techniques and databases such as LinkedIn, Capital IQ, and other research tools.

· Call and recruit executives for our open positions mandated by clients. These executives will be in direct contact with the Search Consultant and we expect stellar talent management for short- and long-term human capital mandates.

· Conduct interviews via phone / video / in-person with full written assessments as the outcome of these conversations.

· Schedule interviews for themselves, other search partners at MontaRosa and clients.

· Develop and follow up with interested candidates for short- and long-term talent management initiatives.

· Gather referrals and sources – including staying in touch with those helpful sources to build relationships for the long-term.

· Manage and update database with outstanding content which will help to drive business and talent needs forward.

· Gather detailed compensation information from candidates.

· Manage overall talent for our clients and internal to MontaRosa as a human resources partner.


· Bachelor Degree required, MBA a plus.

· Knowledge of financial services, technology sectors and organizational structures is desired.

· Ability to contact a volume of passive candidates and develop them into active, interested and qualified candidates for specific search mandates.

· Ability to build rapport with candidates and clients.

· Good executive presence with instant credibility and gravitas.

· Structured approach to problem solving and organizing search and research mapping projects.

Position Summary

The Research Associate is responsible for providing support to the Search Execution team and Partners with information essential to the completion of the research phase of the leadership search efforts and proactive research needs.  This includes developing market insight, compiling market reports and talent maps as well as assisting in the building and ongoing management of the client-talent management system.  The Research Associate will proactively work with teams to offer summaries, interpretations, and direction based upon previous knowledge gained coupled with leveraging research tools available.


· Partner with search teams to develop research strategy and build talent lists for executive search mandates.

· Identify talent through desk-based research with social media tools, historical networks, and other resources such as LinkedIn, Capital IQ, The Deal, Dealogic, eFinancialNews, etc. 

· Source executives and companies to find the right detailed information and talent sought out for search work or get-smart packages – likely via phone.

· Develop lists of potential candidates for short- and long-term talent management initiatives, beyond search mandates. 

· Build referral and source lists with well documented research documents and up-to-date data entry into the database.

· Manage and update propriety database with outstanding content which will help drive business and talent tracking needs forward. 

· Enter potential candidates into internal company databases. Verify accuracy of information and ensure the information is current via telephone based research.

· Refresh research lists or industry reports when needed.

· Gather detailed compensation information on candidates.

· Create quality candidate and client documents, research reports, shortlists, and longlists for clients as needed.  This includes writing full biographies as needed.

· Overall accountability for talent management projects is essential.

· Support business development initiatives by researching prospective clients, sectors and markets identified by search consultants.  Draft pitch documents and presentations in Word, PPT, Excel and other.

· Review daily industry websites, forums and publications to find key insights and leads to share with the relevant search teams for current searches as well as hot prospect talent.

· Track people movements within target and current clients.

· Accompany search consultants to client briefing meetings as often as required, or attend via phone.

· Ensure all required information for accurate candidate list generation is available and is summarized in a research brief before starting the search.

· Create and build executive level company organograms and structure charts.

· Partner with search consultants to compile long lists and market maps.

· Communicate research priorities regularly (at least weekly) to the overall team. 

The Person - Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree beneficial.

· Two plus years of retained executive search recruiting or market research experience from an applicable industry (financial services or technology preferred).

· Ability to build rapport with highly collaborative team. 

· Good executive presence with instant credibility and gravitas. Must understand how to interact with senior professionals across numerous regions across the globe.

· Experience with the diversity and high pressure of working on multiple engagements simultaneously, both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.

· Ability to prioritize workload and delegate, or ask for help when necessary.

· Not afraid to ask questions to clearly understand the mandate.

· Team player with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability

· Entrepreneurial drive with the ability to handle working in a high sense of urgency environment of a boutique firm and can respond quickly to client demands.

· Solid interpersonal skills, well organized, energetic and adaptable to change.

· Results driven and strong team player.

· Experience identifying market trends and researching information effectively through various channels.

· Bring strong desktop research skills and basic business knowledge as well as solid computer skills including MS Office applications.

· Comfortable navigating various research databases.
